Kicking Horse is a standout for experienced skiers – steep chutes, deep powder, and uncrowded runs make it feel like a locals’ secret. Fernie is another powder magnet with a laid-back mining-town character and some of the most consistent snowfall in the Canadian Rockies. Both are quieter and more affordable than Whistler.
Whistler Blackcomb is the obvious choice for groups – the village has a huge range of bars, restaurants, and nightlife, and the terrain is varied enough to keep everyone happy regardless of ability. Banff’s town centre also has a strong après scene, with craft breweries and late-night spots spread along its main strip.
Canada isn’t traditionally a budget destination, but there are ways to get more for your money. Fernie and Kicking Horse are significantly cheaper than Whistler for lift passes, accommodation, and dining. Whistler village (as distinct from Whistler Blackcomb resort) also has more affordable lodging options slightly further from the base.

January to March is the sweet spot. January and February bring the deepest snow, while March offers longer days and slightly warmer temperatures. Some resorts stay open into April.

We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
