La neige arrive généralement tôt dans le nord et s'accumule tout au long de l'hiver, la plupart des stations fonctionnant de fin novembre ou décembre jusqu'au printemps, grâce à un enneigement artificiel étendu et un damage soigné. Attendez-vous à des journées plus courtes en plein hiver et une lumière prolongée en mars et avril, quand les pistes sont souvent à leur meilleur. Hors des pistes, le rythme est tranquille : cafés chaleureux, spas et piscines adaptés aux familles dans certaines villes, et soirées calmes après le ski nocturne, faciles à adopter et à répéter.
Lindvallen is Sälen's family hub, the largest of its four linked ski areas and built almost entirely around younger skiers and their parents. It has one of Europe's largest dedicated children's ski areas, with its own button lifts, conveyor belts, and playful obstacles. Magic Mountain runs evening skiing under a light show most nights of high season, giving families an extra hour together on snow after an early dinner. For days off the slopes, the resort’s Experium centre has bowling, a cinema, and an indoor waterpark with slides and a surf simulator. Much of Lindvallen's accommodation sits ski-in, ski-out, so getting the family out the door each morning is straightforward.
Lindvallen is Sälen's strongest base for first-time skiers. Most of its runs are rated green or blue, spread across wide, gently graded slopes that give beginners plenty of room to find their feet without faster skiers cutting across their path. Ski schools here are well organised and run largely in English, with lessons structured around steady, gradual progression rather than rushing anyone onto harder terrain before they're ready.
Tandådalen, one of Sälen's four linked areas, is a strong base for snowboarding. The terrain itself suits riders, with wide, open runs for carving turns on the eastern side and steeper, more technical sections around the central area for those who want more of a challenge. For freestyle, SkiStar Snow Park Tandådalen is the largest in Sälen and one of the most highly rated in the country, split into a junior park for beginners and a super park with jumps, rails, and boxes for more experienced riders.

A steep run known locally as "The Wall" gives confident skiers a challenge, with off-piste terrain nearby for those who want to push further still. Long runs stretching over a kilometre add to the sense of scale, and much of Hundfjället's accommodation sits right at the base, so skiing starts the moment you step outside.

In Sälen, that typically means late November into mid or late April, backed by snowmaking systems across all four areas that keep conditions reliable even through milder winters. Tandådalen and Hundfjället in Sälen tend to hold their snow the longest, often staying open into the second half of April. Daylight increases dramatically by spring, stretching to 14 to 17 hours a day, so mornings bring firm, fast snow while afternoons soften up for relaxed, sunny skiing on the terraces.

4.9/5Je réserve habituellement moi-même les vols, les transferts, l'hôtel, la location du matériel de ski et les forfaits ski, mais cette année j'ai utilisé WeSki pour un séjour à Morzine. C'était tellement plus simple. Tout a parfaitement fonctionné - les transferts sont arrivés à l'heure et il y avait beaucoup de retours d'information tout au long du processus, ce qui vous donne confiance que les vacances se dérouleront sans problème.
Un service vraiment utile qui est beaucoup plus facile à utiliser que d'autres sites "tout compris". Il comble parfaitement le fossé entre une agence de voyage et la réservation du séjour par vous-même en ligne. J'utiliserai WeSki chaque fois que j'irai au ski à partir de maintenant.
Nous avons réservé un séjour au ski de dernière minute à Morzine via WeSki. Nous avions envisagé de réserver le séjour nous-mêmes, mais nous n'avons pas pu trouver un prix aussi avantageux que celui proposé par WeSki. L'entreprise a été super et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème du début à la fin. Je passerai certainement de nouveau par eux pour réserver un autre week-end au ski.
Une expérience fluide du début à la fin. Je passais des heures à essayer d'organiser un week-end et j'ai réussi à le faire avec WeSki en quelques minutes et pour le même prix que si je l'avais réservé moi-même. Le vol, le transfert et l'hébergement étaient tous comme prévu et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème.
