Lone Mountain rises over it all in an almost perfect pyramid, topping out at 3,403m. More than 2,300 hectares fan out across a cluster of connected mountains in the southwest of the state, with a ski-in, ski-out base at Mountain Village. The resort was the idea of Chet Huntley, an NBC news anchor who came home in the early 1970s to build a ski mountain on a grand scale. It opened in 1973 and has kept expanding since.
On the snow, the numbers do a lot of the talking: more than 300 runs and over 1,300m of vertical, with the longest descents running for several kilometres. The areas all link up, so a single pass and a bit of route-finding keep you moving from one face to the next. Ski here for a week and you'll still be finding new runs on the last day. Up top, the Lone Peak Tram climbs to the summit, where steep chutes and couloirs peel off the peak, while the lower mountain stays gentle and groomed, and in between sits a huge spread of intermediate cruisers and gladed tree runs. Montana's cold, dry climate is known for light snow, and the season usually runs from late November into April.
Mountain Village itself brings together large lodges, condos, restaurants and shops, with an easy, low-key Western feel. Down the hill, Meadow Village and the town of Big Sky add more places to eat and stay, from rustic ranch-style lodges to a handful of high-end resorts. The food carries a Western character too, with saloons for live music and a beer after skiing, barbecue joints that pull the local crowd, and smart lodge dining when you want it. Big Sky also sits about an hour from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, so you can pair your skiing with a day among the park's geysers, hot springs and bison. For international travellers, it's a chance to ski some of the biggest, most wide-open terrain in the country, in a remote corner of the American West.

4.9/5Je réserve habituellement moi-même les vols, les transferts, l'hôtel, la location du matériel de ski et les forfaits ski, mais cette année j'ai utilisé WeSki pour un séjour à Morzine. C'était tellement plus simple. Tout a parfaitement fonctionné - les transferts sont arrivés à l'heure et il y avait beaucoup de retours d'information tout au long du processus, ce qui vous donne confiance que les vacances se dérouleront sans problème.
Un service vraiment utile qui est beaucoup plus facile à utiliser que d'autres sites "tout compris". Il comble parfaitement le fossé entre une agence de voyage et la réservation du séjour par vous-même en ligne. J'utiliserai WeSki chaque fois que j'irai au ski à partir de maintenant.
Nous avons réservé un séjour au ski de dernière minute à Morzine via WeSki. Nous avions envisagé de réserver le séjour nous-mêmes, mais nous n'avons pas pu trouver un prix aussi avantageux que celui proposé par WeSki. L'entreprise a été super et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème du début à la fin. Je passerai certainement de nouveau par eux pour réserver un autre week-end au ski.
Une expérience fluide du début à la fin. Je passais des heures à essayer d'organiser un week-end et j'ai réussi à le faire avec WeSki en quelques minutes et pour le même prix que si je l'avais réservé moi-même. Le vol, le transfert et l'hébergement étaient tous comme prévu et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème.
