Charme traditionnelBromley Mountain has been welcoming skiers to southern Vermont in the United States since 1937, making it one of the oldest ski areas in the state. It's known locally as "Sun Mountain" for its south-facing slopes, which catch sunshine across the trails for most of the day and take the edge off Vermont's cold winter temperatures. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-oriented, with a relaxed, friendly feel on the hill and a single base area that keeps everything simple. Slopeside condos sit right at the base, and the surrounding area has a good range of lodges, inns, and vacation rentals set in the Green Mountains.
Bromley covers 178 acres and 47 runs, with a summit at 1,001m and a vertical drop of 407m. The terrain splits roughly evenly across abilities: gentle, confidence-building greens and a scenic summit trail for beginners, rolling blue cruisers through the mid-mountain, and the steeper East Side Steeps with bumps, glades, and black diamonds for advanced skiers. Alongside the downhill skiing, three terrain parks offer a freestyle option across different levels. Natural snowfall averages around 130 inches per season, and snowmaking covers 86% of the terrain, keeping conditions consistent from late November through to early April.
Beyond the slopes, Bromley sits in a well-rounded corner of Vermont with plenty to fill your time off the mountain. Manchester is fifteen minutes away with a mix of designer outlet shopping, independent bookshops, restaurants, and the Southern Vermont Arts Centre. Closer to the resort, Hildene (the Lincoln family estate) has 400 acres of trails open for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing through the winter, and the Northshire Civic Center in Manchester has indoor public ice skating. The Green Mountains frame everything here, and you'll find that this manageable and sun-soaked mountain paired with a well-stocked New England town makes for an easy, enjoyable holiday.
